Fire Safety is an important part of your business. The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles allows candidates to develop their basic fire safety awareness. It is particularly useful for employees who are to have a designated responsibility for workplace fire safety, for example as fire wardens or fire marshals, and provides the knowledge that will allow them to carry out duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures.

Successfully completing the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles will enable you to become a fire warden/marshal in your organisation.

After successful completion of the course, candidates should be able to:

  • Explain how fires are caused
  • Identify fire hazards
  • Describe how fire and smoke spread
  • Describe methods of fire detection
  • Identify common fixed fire fighting systems and where they can be used
  • Understand how to conduct a simple fire safety inspection of their workplace
  • Understand the role and function of fire wardens
  • Provide induction briefings for new people coming into their area of responsbility
