Changes in legislation effective from January 2006 have placed greater onus and accountability on anyone in the food business with supervisory responsibility.
It is therefore vital they are equipped with both the knowledge and confidence to do their job effectively. Anybody working in a supervisory role within the food industry not only has a responsibility for food safety, but can also be held accountable for it if things go wrong.
This course can equip them with the knowledge and the knowhow to do their job effectively and ensure that they and their teams know how to keep food hygienic.
The Level 3 Award in Food Safety course is ideal for supervisors and managers in any retail, manufacturing and catering business. It is particularly relevant for those who develop food based safe systems of work.
It is preferable that candidates have experience or previous qualifications in food safety, for example the CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety. It is recommended that candidates take a refresher on this course every three years.
The qualification covers the following topics:
- Supervisor management
- Temperature control (chilling, cooking)
- Contamination control
- Applying and monitoring good hygiene practices
- Implementing good food safety procedures

After completion of this course suggested certificates for food hygiene progression are our CIEH Level 4 Awards in Food Safety.
